These Cork florists are going completely rose-free for Valentine’s Day

A Glanmire seasonal florist is ditching the traditional red bloom for Valentine’s Day this year as part of an eco-friendly, sustainable drive.

Between the Briars, run by the dynamic duo Taylor Nelsen and Kevin O’Connell, is a small, sustainably managed flower farm that is cultivating a Valentine’s Day offering featuring cool-season flowers in vibrant and distinctive designs.

Think ranunculus, the ‘Spring Rose,’ boasting multiple petals and romantic hues, and anemones, the pop stars of spring with their dark centers and pastel shades.

They also have hyacinths, with a super scent and long vase life, and broom blossoms, which give flair and movement.
