This year, the Three Counties Agricultural Society organized yet another annual School Garden Challenge. This is an educational gardening competition for children in which they create a themed garden at the RHS Malvern Spring Festival from 9-12 May, in the United Kingdom. Just as last year, Syngenta Flowers was one of the main supporters of this campaign.
The mission of the RHS Campaign for School Gardening is to give children and young people opportunities to grow and connect with nature. They do this by supporting school staff, home educators and youth group leaders with training, resources, and advice, so they can encourage young people to explore the outdoors and learn how to care for plants and the planet.
This years' theme was 'The magic of music' - choose a song or musical to bring to life in a garden to make your heart sing.
In November 2023 Syngenta Flowers supplied Delta Pro Pansies and Cyclamen for a workshop where designs for the gardens were started. In March this year Calliope Geranium plugs were supplied to the schools for them to grow on for their gardens and at then at the show, more mature plants were supplied to include in the gardens.
The 11 gardens did not disappoint! The RHS judges were impressed with the designs and the gardens' quality.
Neil Fishlock, Retail Key Account Manager: "The gardens again this year were superb. The attention to detail and the effort made by the children can be seen in the quality of the gardens. This is the next generation of gardeners in the making. Syngenta Flowers is proud to be able to support and participate in The RHS Malvern Show – making this happen."
