US (CO): New greenhouse helps to beautify Wright's Mesa

Wild Iris Greenhouse and Gardens, Wright's Mesa's newest business, is a product of Marti Prohaska's lifelong love of plants. Prohaska was born and raised in Telluride. Her first summer job in high school was landscaping, which she continued throughout college.

In 2007, she joined the San Juan Landscapes team, where she managed the maintenance department until about two years ago.

"I really enjoyed making custom planters for clients," she said. A desire for more creative freedom led to Prohaska's decision to open her own greenhouse outside of Norwood.

"I wanted to be able to be more creative and plant all the special varieties that I've come to love, and which work well in our environment," she said. Previously, Prohaska was growing plants in cold frames, but found it to be limiting.
