NL: Javo joins AVAG industry association

Javo now joins the ranks of horticultural suppliers that are members of AVAG. The company, headquartered in Noordwijkerhout (the Netherlands), is primarily renowned for its potting machines. Its product portfolio has significantly expanded over time to include tray automation, transport systems, and robotic systems. These products are distributed to over sixty different countries. Cindy van Nobelen, Javo's Marketing Manager, states, "By collaborating within AVAG, we can further strengthen the Netherlands' leading position as a horticultural nation."

Javo is part of the Nobels Group, a family business in Noordwijkerhout with 120 employees. The group also encompasses the brands Nobels, Javo International, and Agro Techniek. All aspects of innovation, engineering, and production occur in-house.

The straightforward potting machine that first emerged in the late '60s has undergone significant technological advancements. Cindy notes, "While our machines remain largely mechanical, we are increasingly incorporating advanced controls, allowing us to integrate our machines with other systems at growers' facilities. Robotics are primarily utilized in internal logistics, including plant spacing and delivery systems."

Third generation
Meanwhile, the third generation of Van Nobelen has joined the company, comprising three sisters: Cindy, Patricia (Executive Assistant), and Chantal (Quality Manager). Shares are equally divided among them, along with Koos de Vink (CEO) and Ber van Nobelen. Koos and Ber form the management team, while the three daughters are afforded the freedom to further develop within the company.

Global Dealer Network
From Noordwijkerhout, a significant portion of the production is distributed worldwide. Javo maintains its own branch in the United States. In other key horticultural markets, collaboration with dealers extends to service and maintenance. Cindy remarks, "We have prioritized expanding our dealer network. We actively invest in this, providing support at trade shows and offering training for sales and service staff. This approach ensures our representation in more countries."

AVAG: 'Learning from Each Other'
By joining AVAG, Javo aims to foster collaboration within the Dutch horticulture sector. "We regard the Netherlands as the leading horticultural nation globally. Through closer cooperation, we can uphold and even enhance this leading position." Her expectations of AVAG membership? "Bringing companies from the same sector together enables mutual learning. We gain insights into the challenges other companies encounter and how they address them. Aside from the extensive network established through membership, I anticipate that the project groups and working groups will prove highly informative. This way, we stay well-informed about market developments and how others are pioneering new initiatives. We are enthusiastic about contributing to this endeavor."
