"Orange flowers for the Dutch King"

They return every year, the orange flowers for King's Day at Dutch nursery G. de Koning. "Supermarkets incorporate orange flowers into their bouquets, and florists like to display an orange chrysanthemum or an orange-dyed Gypsophila Million Star. Especially the orange chrysanthemums do well on King's Day", says Tim de Koning.

Although King's Day cannot be compared to major flower days like Valentine's Day or Mother's Day, he still notices a clear increase in demand. "There is definitely extra interest in orange flowers."

The reason the chrysanthemum is a favorite is also due to the price, according to him. "Flower prices have risen significantly over the past year, but fortunately, demand remains strong. We buy a lot directly from growers. Additionally, we receive flowers from third parties to dye, but we also have a steady supply of orange flowers in-house."
