With his company in Danish carts, Leo Schalkoort became a household name throughout Europe. The AD shares an in memoriam about the Hoekse entrepreneur, for which the newspaper spoke to brother Cees. In 1980, Leo started a company in plant and flower export, after which the Danish carts came his way. "Those things had been circulating at the auction for years, they fit better in trucks. Leo bought a hundred to rent out and within no time there was a shortage", says Cees. It became the basis of his company: Leo Schalkoort Danish carts.
