SAF invites breeders and growers for Outstanding Varieties Competition

The Society of American Florists (SAF) invites breeders and growers from around the world to participate in its annual Outstanding Varieties Competition, taking place Aug. 11-14, during SAF Phoenix 2025, the organization's 140th Annual Convention.

This competition offers breeders and growers an opportunity to showcase their finest varieties and receive valuable feedback from hundreds of floral professionals attending the convention.

Entries are evaluated by a panel of nine judges—made up of retailers, growers, and wholesalers—based on color and commercial appeal, stem and foliage quality, bloom form and size, and overall presentation. Top-scoring entries in each category are recognized as Best in Class, and from those, one variety earns the title of Best in Show.

The competition also includes Breeder's Alley, a special section dedicated to varieties that are either not yet commercially available or not widely distributed. This exclusive showcase offers attendees a first look at innovative new varieties and gives breeders the chance to highlight what's next in floriculture.

Early Bird Entry Deadline closes on July 1, 2025, whilst the Final Entry Deadline is on July 14, 2025 (no entries will be accepted after this date).
