Beekenkamp's novelty LaBella Dahlia Grande Chocolate Rose was chosen as the favorite plant in the Trial Garden during the FlowerTrials in week 24. In addition, a week later, the plant also won awards at the HTA Plant Show, where it received the New Plant award for best plant in the Annuals, Tender Perennials and Container & Basket Plants category.
Public favorite
During Flower Trials, visitors from across the industry had the opportunity to vote for their favorite plant in the Trial Garden on the grounds of Beekenkamp Plants in Maasdijk, the Netherlands. The LaBella Dahlia Grande Chocolate Rose received a large majority of votes, making it the favorite! Second place went to LaBella Dahlia Grande Chocolate Amber, also from the Chocolate series. The deep, dark foliage of these plants reminded us of the luxurious allure of chocolate - and just like chocolate, these LaBella Dahlias are impossible to resist! On the Flower Trials grounds, the Chocolate series was also presented as a beautiful gift, a perfect idea for Mother's Day, for example.

Garden performance
In past years, the Chocolate series has been extensively tested: at the grower's premises, at the Beekenkamp Research and Development Center, and in the Trial Garden where garden performance is the main focus. Here, the plants are exposed to every conceivable weather condition, from extreme heat to strong winds and heavy rainfall. During the season, the plants are monitored and assessed weekly for growth, performance, and shelf life. It can be proudly shared that the garden performance is very good.
