US (MI): Florist adjusts to changes brought on by tariffs

Weddings can be expensive, and now, couples have to figure out how to factor tariffs into their budgets. It's for that reason many of them are deciding to delay their big day. "We have to be very conscious of what product we are bringing in," Ardis Lielzuika, the owner of Ambati Flowers in Kalamazoo, said. "What it's caused us to is search a little harder for growers locally or in countries that aren't tapped as heavily."

Lielzuika does get some flowers from China, Ecuador and Colombia but he also works with local growers. This is not the first time he's had to get creative, having been in business for 45 years.

"Tariffs are definitely a part of the product that we bring in from there," Lielzuika said. "We're counting more on local growers, more in the United States. A lot of things are growing in Hawaii."
