Colombian flowers bloom at the US independence celebration in Bogota

As the Embassy of the United States in Colombia celebrated its Independence Day, Flowers of Colombia joined in the celebration with flowers.

The past 26th of June at the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá, over 2,000 guests gathered to commemorate its independence. Among the stars and stripes, Colombian flowers quietly stole the spotlight. Their presence, organized by Asocolflores, the Colombian Association of Flower Exporters, served as a colorful tribute to the enduring partnership between the two nations.

This year's celebration featured a floral mural depicting the flags of both Colombia and the United States, a visual symbol of unity and shared values. With more than 9,500 stems, the installation quickly became a centerpiece — not only for its size and beauty but for the message it carried. Guests were drawn to take photos, creating a lasting memory of this floral diplomacy.

Across the venue, vintage-style bicycles adorned with fresh blooms told a deeper story. These bikes represent the daily journey of thousands of rural flower workers in Colombia who ride to the fields each morning, dedicating themselves to cultivating the flowers that brighten lives around the world especially in the U.S.

"Colombian flowers are present during the most meaningful moments for Americans from Valentine's Day to Mother's Day, helping express emotions that words sometimes cannot," shared representatives of the flower sector.

And indeed, the connection is more than symbolic. The U.S. is Colombia's top destination for flower exports. This bond supports tens of thousands of families across rural Colombia, turning flowers into bridges of opportunity, dignity, and shared celebration.

By filling the July 4th celebration with color and meaning, Colombian floriculture once again reminded both countries of what they grow together, not just trade or tradition, but a friendship that blossoms every season.
