India: "The Pune flower market is in full bloom"

"There has been a surge in demand for flowers, with prices increasing by 25-30% compared to last week and around 3 to 4 tons of flowers have arrived in Pimpri flower market," said Rohidas Shinde, APMC Pimpri divisional Flower Market head. Retailers flocked to the Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Flower Market in Pune to make purchases.

For Guru Purnima, temples are decorated with flowers, and devotees buy flowers in large quantities for worship. Students and devotees also gift bouquets to their Gurus. The Pune flower market receives flowers from farmers across Pune district. Due to high demand, marigold prices rose to ₹80-100 per kilogram, up from ₹50-60. A bundle of 20 roses fetched ₹150-200.Open land cultivated roses for Rs.40-50 for bundle of 10 steam.

"Due to overproduction and more supply double tuberoses were sold at ₹30-50 per bunch of 10 sticks instead of 150-200 per bunch," admitted Gangaram More, a wholesale flower trader from Pune flower market. Jasmine was available at ₹500to600 per kilogram. Chrysanthymum Rs. 140-180 per kg. Loose tuberose Rs.200-300/per kg. With the upcoming auspicious month of Shravan and Ganeshotsav in Bhadrapada, flower sellers expect the demand to remain high.
