At Kwekerij de Zuidplas in the Netherlands, the team from Peter Dekker Installaties (PDI) is putting the finishing touches on a brand-new, high-tech greenhouse. As shared on LinkedIn, construction began earlier this year on a facility where gerberas will soon be grown in a highly sustainable way. Once completed, the greenhouse will cover nearly 5 hectares. Phase 1, approximately 22,000 square meters, is almost finished, with Phase 2 to follow shortly. Despite a tight schedule, all involved have succeeded in keeping the project on track—planting will begin soon.
Greenhouse builder KUBO Tuinbouwprojecten B.V. designed and installed a unique truss system, allowing the screening systems to be mounted very close together. A specially designed structure in the truss provides the ideal mounting point for the lower screen, ensuring that the energy screen closes perfectly—an important factor in minimizing energy loss.
So, what exactly did PDI install here? A blackout screen system, a solar shading screen, and a super-clear energy screen to top it all off—talk about optimizing sustainability! In addition, sidewall screens were installed along the outer façades, and the 2 × 1.67 meter wide ventilation windows were fitted with insect netting to maintain crop hygiene.
