Tunisia confirms efforts to export flowers into Europe

President of the Northwest Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Cherif Chenani, confirmed efforts to export Tunisian flowers in the Netherlands and Europe, starting from farms in the country's northwest.

Chenani explained, in a statement to the national radio, that around 500 families between Nafza and Tabarka work in flower cultivation, especially ornamental flowers, and market them in a rudimentary manner.

He added that the Dutch ambassador to Tunisia visited the area and pledged to provide equipment to help women working in this sector develop their activity. The speaker went on to say that a Dutch expert will visit Tunisia next September to learn about the region and present proposals for exporting Tunisian flowers to Europe.

He also pointed out that they will coordinate with the relevant parties to allow women working in flower cultivation to make use of forests to obtain fertilizers, while preserving them.
