Blooming Week 2025

Colombia: Watching a breeders journey come to life

This August 25-29, Danziger has invited the global floral community to Blooming Week 2025 in Antioquia, Colombia — an Open Days experience where nature's most vivid colors meet tomorrow's floral innovations. Over five days, visitors will explore the newest chrysanthemum introductions together with highlights from Danziger's broader assortment, including Gypsophila, Scabiosa, Limonium, Green Dragon, Unicorn, and many more.

Powered by Nature is the concept behind this year's Blooming Week. It takes inspiration from Colombia's stunning landscapes — from lush valleys to vibrant wildlife — and translates that natural beauty into floral collections that echo their surroundings in both palette and character. These collections are not only visually striking but also deliver what growers value most: stronger stems, uniform flowering, longer vase life, and reduced chemical needs.

Breeding with the market in mind
What makes Danziger's approach unique is the way the entire floral chain is part of the breeding journey. Growers, buyers, florists, traders, and even trend forecasters all share insights that help guide each new variety. At times, the market's needs lead the process; at other times, Danziger's innovations set new directions. This dialogue ensures that every flower — from bold chrysanthemums to distinctive crops like Gypsophila, Scabiosa, and Unicorn — is both commercially relevant and future-ready.

"Our work begins in the field, but it's guided by the needs and insights of the people who grow, sell, and design with our flowers," says Eliana Díaz, Danziger's Commercial Manager in Colombia. "Sometimes the market guides us; other times, we lead the way — and that's what keeps our breeding relevant for growers and florists alike. This event is where we bring those innovations to life and invite the industry to see — and shape — what's next."

This collaborative approach is showcased through some of the notable new introductions that will debut at Blooming Week. Greenpop, a bright green cushion variety with a rounded, marigold-like form, reflects the growing interest in bold green tones for modern floral design. Amor Crimson, with its vivid red petals and fresh green center, offers a striking look combined with dependable performance — a variety poised to capture attention as trends evolve.
