South Korea: Fire destroys Seoul flower greenhouse

A fire broke out on the 22nd at a flower cultivation complex in Segok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. According to the fire authorities, a report was received at 2:13 p.m. that a fire had started in a greenhouse within the flower cultivation complex.

The fire authorities issued a Phase 1 response and initiated firefighting operations. A total of 40 vehicles and 232 personnel were deployed, and the fire was completely extinguished around 4:43 p.m. after 2 hours and 30 minutes since it broke out.

The fire completely destroyed 10 greenhouses and 4 vehicles. There were no reported injuries. Due to the firefighting operations, three of the lower lanes toward Bokjeong Intersection were temporarily closed at the Seokdong intersection on Hunnung-ro.

The police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
