US (NY): New flower farm opens at historic landmark in Perinton

A historic landmark in Perinton is now the home of a new small business. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday afternoon for Toad Hill Blooms, a specialty cut-flower farm that focuses on fresh, seasonal, and locally grown blooms.

People can buy custom arrangements, event florals, and sign up for bouquet subscriptions. The owner, Mollie Runyon, said her business offers people an alternative to imported flowers by emphasizing seasonal flowers grown in Perinton.

"Customers can expect farm-fresh flowers; they're picked the day of use and we use ecological farm practices," explained Runyon. "The soil health is really, really important to us and we feel like the flowers we get from it grow better and more beautiful."

"It's kind of a pinch me moment," Runyon continued. "Every day, I walk over the hill, and I'm just like, 'Okay! This is in bloom, or this new color has arrived. It's just, like, wow, all the time and planning has really made everything bloom and has turned out beautiful."
