MPS issues reassessment of color coding for active substances

In the MPS environmental indicator system (MPS-MIND), the color coding of active substances (components of crop protection agents) is regularly reassessed. During this reassessment, the age of the active substance and the total quantities used by all MPS-ABC participants over the past year are evaluated.

In recent months, 23 coded active substances were reassessed. As a result of this reassessment, the categories of some active substances may have changed due to new data becoming available about the substances concerned. If these active substances are used, their use will influence the number of points for participants.

The table below shows the 23 substances that have been reassessed. The new categorization begins on October 6, 2025 (period 11). The color depends on the environmental zone (EZ) in which the active substance is used. Starting on October 6 (period 11), the colors will be visible when participants log on to the record-keeping environment.

The overview of environmental zones indicates which environmental zone a business or location belongs to in each period. The environmental zones are relevant because location factors influence the environmental risk potential when using crop protection agents.
