India: Kerala people celebrate Onam in Pimpri-Chinchwad with enthusiasm

The Malayali community in Pimpri city celebrated the festival of Onam with joy and enthusiasm. Women dressed in traditional white sarees, and colorful flower rangoli (floral patterns) were created at the Shri Krushna Temple. A variety of traditional dishes were prepared, using grains and vegetables.

In Kerala culture, Onam is a harvest festival that lasts ten days. It is also linked to the legend of King Mahabali, who is believed to visit the earth on the first day of the festival.

At the Krishna Temple in Nigdi, the celebrations included religious programs such as a grand abhishek (ritual offering) and a large floral decoration called Onam Pookalam. Women performed traditional dances to the rhythms of Kerala instruments, and devotees were served a festive meal on banana leaves.
