The birth of a new generation of Valdosta lilies

Klaver Flowers recently brought the very first Valdosta lilies into bloom to mark a special 'birth celebration' in Smilde, the Netherlands – a meaningful moment for their company and for the entire sector, they share on LinkedIn.

What makes these bulbs so remarkable? They are the very first OT Valdosta lily bulbs cultivated with an environmental impact equal to or even lower than that of potatoes or onions. This marks an important step towards a more sustainable future for ornamental horticulture.

A step towards a more sustainable future
"The occasion came about quite naturally: when bulb grower Veninga Hijken Bloembollen approached us, we immediately said yes. Especially for this event, we planted and brought into bloom a new generation of bulbs. During the celebration, the very first Valdosta lilies were presented to speed skating champion and sustainability ambassador Irene Schouten.

As the only Valdosta grower in the Netherlands, we feel a strong responsibility to take the lead in sustainable cultivation. The new cultivation technique developed by the Drenthe Lily Collective demonstrates that a different way of growing is possible. With this initiative, the sector shows that innovation, craftsmanship and responsibility can flourish together."
