Germany: New storage power plant gives young plant producer consistent, reliable heat

Young plant productions require constant, reliable heat – especially during sensitive growth phases. With the new storage power plant in Thiendorf, north of Dresden, Elsner pac is now focusing on a future-proof solution: flexible, local and climate-neutral.

The concept combines state-of-the-art, fast-starting combined heat and power plants with a large heat buffer storage tank that ensures a continuous and demand-oriented supply. This means that renewable energy is provided to secure the power supply exactly when it is needed – even during peak load times or during periods of low wind and low sunlight.

In close partnership between the utility company Danpower and the engineering firm Energethik, a flagship project for the heat transition in horticulture is being created that combines security of supply with climate protection. Christoph Hoffmann, Managing Director of Elsner pac: 'After a long planning process, we are now equipped for the future with a stable and environmentally friendly energy supply.'
