Winners of Iconic Hydrangea Challenge announced

The recent Iconic Hydrangea Challenge with Hydrangea World brought to life inspiring floral interpretations, highlighting the versatility and striking presence of these remarkable blooms.

Hydrangea designs poured in from across the world, led mainly by Europe, where florists delivered standout interpretations of "Iconic Flower, Iconic Floristry."

Voted top designs
Following a showcase of creativity, the community has spoken. Through open voting within Master Florist's targeted florist-centric community, two champions were selected in the Hydrangea World Iconic Challenge.

Photo Entry Champion was Sanjaya Katruwardena, who contributed a lush, garden-style arrangement featuring blue hydrangeas combined with yellow and white flowers, celebrated for its volume, balance, and natural elegance.

The Video Entry Champion was Květinářství Pokorná (Jana Květinářství Pokorná), who designed a grand, romantic bouquet filled with pink hydrangeas, roses, and textured greens, admired for its abundance and timeless charm.

Impact and engagement
The Iconic Hydrangea Challenge made a notable impact, reaching wide audiences in the millions through Master Florist's social media and active community channels. More than 100 entries were received, reflecting a strong wave of creativity and a strong interest in working with hydrangeas. For the first time, video submissions were part of the challenge, enriching the variety of designs and adding a dynamic, visual dimension. Together, these elements turned the challenge into a showcase of artistry, interaction, and meaningful engagement across the floral design community.

A showcase of iconic form and versatility
Throughout this challenge, designers make creative use of hydrangeas' natural structure, characterised by large flower heads with up to 25 cm in diameter, a wide colour palette, and a naturally voluminous form.

These characteristics provided designers with a foundation for expressive and diverse floral creations.

Thanks to every floral designer who took part, showcasing imagination and floral artistry, which turned this challenge into something special.

Each design brings new inspiration to the Master Florist community, highlighting the evolving artistry in modern floristry.
