The Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia has announced that 11 more Armenian companies have received licenses to export flowers to Russia. In total, 32 organizations, covering around 95 hectares of greenhouses, are now permitted to ship flower products to the Russian market.
The licenses were granted following joint remote inspections by the Armenian regulator and Russia's Service Rosselkhoznadzor. More companies are expected to receive licenses soon.
According to Rosselkhoznadzor, imports of cut flowers from Armenia have increased significantly this year. Between January and August 2025, more than 71.1 million flowers were supplied to Russia, up 47% compared to the same period in 2024 (48.5 million). For the whole of last year, shipments totaled 84.4 million units.
Earlier this year, Rosselkhoznadzor temporarily restricted imports of Armenian flowers, citing the detection of plant diseases and pests. The move caused discontent among Armenian growers, some of whom staged protests. Speculation also circulated that flowers exported to Russia were being imported from third countries and re-exported via Armenia, but the Ministry of Economy of Armenia officially denied these claims.
According to Armstat, Armenian growers produced 110.3 million flowers in the first half of 2025, 50.5% more than in the same period of 2024.
