Last Thursday, Club Witsand in Noordwijk hosted the Pina Colada Trade Event. During this gathering, the Pina Colada spray chrysanthemum was officially relaunched on behalf of all current and future growers. The event highlighted the variety's qualities, refreshed positioning, and plans for the future of this white chrysanthemum.

Since its introduction in 2016, Pina Colada has proven to be a reliable and versatile chrysanthemum. Over the years, changing market conditions and technological developments in greenhouse production have contributed to refining the variety. The result is a strong, adaptable product that is ready for the next step in the international market.

The event also introduced a collective of growers whose dedication and craftsmanship ensure quality, consistency, and reliability. Retine Flowers, Samada Flowers, and Senzaro Flowers are currently producing the variety. Soon, VannoVa Fred van Paassen and Zentoo – The Colourful Collective will also join in production.

Pina Colada distinguishes itself with a large number of flowers per stem, consistent spray formation, and year-round ornamental value. With its fresh white colour and green heart, it is positioned as a distinctive choice for florists, traders, and retailers. The variety also performs well under colder conditions, responds to high LED-light levels, and shows strong resistance to rust, which supports its long-term suitability for production.

The relaunch included the presentation of a renewed brand identity and clear ambitions for the coming years. Close collaboration between breeder and growers helps the variety continue to meet market demands. The event concluded with a BBQ lunch, where exporters and wholesalers were invited to share feedback and suggestions for promotional support, reinforcing the connection between growers and trade.
