On September 22–23, eleven flower companies jointly hosted a flower variety open day under the theme "More Varieties, More Choices." Thousands of new varieties made their debut, including roses, hydrangeas, lisianthus, anthuriums, phalaenopsis, chrysanthemums, sunflowers, potted carnations, dahlias, Rieger begonias, nemesias, geraniums, fuchsias, impatiens, proteas, leucadendrons, and bougainvilleas, covering multiple categories such as potted plants and cut flowers.

Participating companies included Kunming Yangyueji Co., Ltd., Brighten, Dummen Orange, Anthura, Nessen, Yihua Horticulture Co., Ltd., Anning Delilfor Agriculture Technology Co., Ltd., Schreurs.,De Ruiter, Yunnan Jinpinyunke Seedling Co., Ltd., and Yunnan Weijunkai Landscape Co., Ltd. Together, they launched the inaugural "Kunming Flower Days."

Thanks to its unique geographical and climatic advantages of low latitude and high altitude, Yunnan has become an indispensable key region in the global flower industry. As of 2024, the province's flower cultivation area has reached 1.95 million mu (approximately 130,000 hectares), with fresh cut flower production exceeding 20.6 billion stems. Among these, the Kunming Dounan Flower Market, Asia's largest fresh cut flower trading center, handles an annual trading volume of over 14 billion stems, with its influence extending to more than 50 countries and regions worldwide.

In terms of seed industry innovation, by the end of 2024, the province had applied for over 1,100 new flower varieties, with more than 800 already granted national authorization.
