This year at Fruit Attraction, Pelemix returns with a clear message: showing how the company supports growers at every stage of production through innovative and sustainable coco substrate solutions. Alongside strengthening its international presence, the company will highlight in Madrid the benefits of its substrates tailored to different cultivation systems.
"We also want to emphasize our substrates for blueberries and strawberries, which are delivering excellent results and seeing growing demand," the company states.

For strawberry and blueberry crops, Pelemix offers substrates designed to optimize root development, improve aeration, and retain moisture evenly. This translates into higher yields and better fruit quality under a semi-hydroponic model that ensures consistent, profitable results. "As manufacturers, we can also provide customized substrates for berries as well as for other crops, tailoring the product to the specific needs of each grower," the company explains.

Recently, Pelemix announced the expansion of its facilities in Sri Lanka, with a new coconut husk processing and drying plant. "This allows us to secure production capacity and ensure a steady supply of high-quality coco fiber, strategically positioning us to meet the rising demand in key markets. At the same time, we can offer shorter delivery times, full traceability, and product consistency, all of which are crucial to supporting growers," the company notes.

Coco fiber as a mixed system
Coco fiber has established itself as an effective medium for hydroponics, but also as a way to continue production in areas where soils are exhausted or degraded. Thanks to its stable, aerated structure, it supports root development even when soils are compacted, salinized, or low in organic matter.

"In Spain, in particular, we see this trend growing: soil depletion has driven greater interest in semi-hydroponic systems. Growers want solutions to their soil challenges, and the mixed system offers an intermediate step for those not yet ready to switch fully from soil to hydroponics," the company adds.
