Belarusian flower growers look to Chinese greenhouse solutions for modernization

The flower industry in Belarus is strengthening its technological base. In Brest, farmer Konstantin Moisyuk has been cultivating a wide range of ornamental plants for over 20 years. His farm grows hyacinths, daffodils, tulips, chrysanthemums, lilies, and roses, more than 20 varieties in total. With production in need of renewal, the farmer is considering the adoption of Chinese greenhouse technologies.

Interest in Chinese solutions is also rising in the capital. The Minsk Greenhouse Complex, where around 12 varieties of roses are cultivated and 10 new hybrids were recently planted, is in talks on equipment and planting material supply. The company is already testing LED lighting systems that support year-round cultivation of both vegetables and flowers.

At the Zhdanovichi Agri-Complex, two new greenhouses covering 14 hectares are under construction, with plans to include ornamental crops alongside vegetables. The focus is on energy efficiency and adapting Chinese technologies to local climate conditions.

Partnership opportunities with China are also being discussed at the policy level. Chinese companies are offering "turnkey" greenhouse construction, which could expand production capacity and boost export potential, including shipments to China itself.

In the flower sector, emphasis is placed on variety and consistent quality. The combination of updated engineering systems, automated processes, and advanced lighting creates opportunities for expanding collections and ensuring year-round output.
