Heemskerk Flowers joins Dutch Flower Group

As of October 6, 2025, Heemskerk Flowers has officially joined the Dutch Flower Group (DFG). The company views this partnership under the DFG umbrella as an important step to remain strong and competitive in a rapidly changing international floriculture market.

Founded in 1961 by Bert Heemskerk, the company has grown into one of the largest international trading businesses in fresh cut flowers and indoor plants, known for its focus on high quality and fine-tuned logistics, right down to deliveries to customers' shop floors.

Even after joining DFG, Heemskerk Flowers will continue to operate independently and maintain its own identity, something the company considers essential in an industry that is seeing increasing consolidation. This independence allows the company to stay true to its own vision, values, and culture, keeping communication lines short, customer focus sharp, and operations flexible.

Guided by its central motto, "With passion, we bloom the world," Heemskerk Flowers offers a wide online assortment of flowers, plants, and floral accessories, with service and flexibility as key priorities. The company employs over 300 people, supplying florists and wholesalers both within and beyond Europe on a daily basis.

Sustainability is another cornerstone of the company's strategy. Its purchasing process is fully certified according to the FSI Basket of Standards, reflecting Heemskerk Flowers' ongoing commitment to sustainable sourcing, an area in which the company plans to continue investing in the coming years.

The management team of Heemskerk Flowers will be formed as of October 6, 2025, by Roos Heemskerk (general director), Matthijs de Ruiter (financial director), Dennis Kromhout (commercial director), and Leo Heemskerk (IT director).

Roos Heemskerk takes over the baton from Bert Heemskerk, who has indicated that after a long period of serving as general director, he wants to focus on advising companies outside the ornamental horticulture sector.

Roos Heemskerk (general director of Heemskerk Flowers): "I am happy with the connection to Dutch Flower Group. I see many opportunities within this family of companies for us as Heemskerk Flowers to further professionalize in the future."

Jan van Dam (CEO DFG): "Proud to welcome Heemskerk Flowers within DFG. With this step, we expand our portfolio with the expert in fine-grained delivery to independent florists."
