Plastic-made flowers banned to promote use locally produced flowers

Musikot Municipality in Western Rukum has decided to impose a complete ban on the use, sale, and distribution of plastic flower garlands. The municipality has informed that its 54th meeting made this decision. Moha Prakash Giri, Chief Administrative Officer, informed that plastic flowers and similar items will no longer be allowed to be used, sold, or distributed in the municipal area.

Giri, the Chief Administrative Officer, said that if anyone is found selling or distributing plastic flowers contrary to the decision of the municipal executive, the person will be punished according to the rules. Especially during festivals, plastic flowers and garlands are usually sold in the market.

To promote the use of locally produced items and flowers during festive occasions and to reduce the use of plastic, the municipality's spokesperson, Samir Jung Mall, informed that such a decision has been made. He urged local citizens, businessmen, and stakeholders to follow this decision.

According to him, the municipality has taken this step for environmental conservation and the creation of a clean city. The beauty of the city has been difficult to maintain due to plastic waste.
