Plantaespaña is showcased at Iberflora as the union and future of the ornamental industry

The first Plantaespaña Award in history was awarded to the Iberflora Organizing Committee in recognition of its history and commitment to advancing the ornamental sector.

Plantaespaña, a brand established to represent, promote, and strengthen this sector—focused on beauty, biodiversity, and well-being—launched its mission with the slogan 'Pride, union and future of the ornamental sector' on the opening day of Iberflora 2025, the 54th edition of the trade fair for plants, flowers, landscaping, technology, and DIY.

Plantaespaña brings together over 40 producers and marketers from Almeria and Granada, who cultivate more than 1,000 ornamental varieties—including poinsettias, dipladenias, cacti, roses, and ficus—and make up 65% of Andalusia's ornamental production. With a strong export orientation, its plants are shipped annually to countries such as France, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Denmark, and Portugal.

Francisco Rubio, head of Plantaespaña, explained that this brand was created at the request of the producers and marketers of ornamental plants associated with COEXPHAL. Its purpose is to represent the sector, defend its interests, and promote sustainability, innovation, and professionalism. It also offers technical advice and certification, coordinates trade fairs and events, and promotes its members internationally. Its influence is nationwide, so it is open to providing its services to companies in other autonomous communities.

"I believe Plantaespaña is necessary and perfect; we already sell our plants with its label as a mark of identification and distinction," stated Antonio Jiménez, Production Director of Viveros Jiménez. "Plantaespaña is a good strategy to stand out and create our own mark," stated Alberto Pascual, Manager of Viveros Medipalm. "It is a great opportunity to differentiate ourselves and establish a distinctive seal," added Francisco Molina, Manager of Viveros Zuaime.

During the event, Francisco Cano, Director of Inspection and Control Agent at the AGROCOLOR certifier, introduced the new 'Atestalis' database. This sector-specific tool streamlines the export process by providing quick access to phytosanitary requirements for third countries, thereby simplifying procedures and enhancing the international competitiveness of Spain's ornamental sector.

The final highlight was the presentation of the First Plantaespaña Award, which in this first edition was awarded to the Iberflora Organising Committee in recognition of its history and dedication to promoting the ornamental sector. Máximo Solaz, director of Iberflora, accepted the award from Francisco Luque, manager of Semilleros Laimund, one of Spain's leading dipladenia producers and a historic participant in the fair. Laimund has also been actively involved in the organizing committee since the 1990s, contributing significantly to the event's growth and success over the years.

With the slogan 'Plants and flowers from the sun of Europe,' Plantaespaña is more than just a brand. It reflects a sector that combines production, innovation, and a commitment to sustainability. It represents unity, tradition, and the future," concluded Francisco Rubio, head of Plantaespaña.
