Kenya: Mount Elgon Orchards Managing Director receives national recognition

Mount Elgon Orchards has announced that its Managing Director, Bob Andersen, has been awarded the MASHUJAA Kenyan Hero Award 2025. The national honour recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to peace, Kenya's independence, academics, sports, arts, and philanthropy.

Andersen received the award for his continued dedication to community development and philanthropy. Thirty years ago, he co-founded the Mount Elgon Trust with Dr. Bea Schipper. The Trust's work remains focused on improving lives in the region surrounding Mount Elgon Orchards.

The Mount Elgon Trust currently supports 4,000 children through education initiatives, operates a hospital that treats approximately 26,000 patients each year, and runs an orphanage and a farmers' training center aimed at empowering local growers. The Trust also carries out various development projects within neighboring communities.
