NL: Flowers during the National Celebration of Amsterdam 750th Anniversary

On October 27, the city of Amsterdam celebrated its 750th anniversary in grand style with a musical tribute by famous Dutch artists. The "National Celebration of Amsterdam's 750th Anniversary" concert, held at Museumplein, was broadcast live on national television channel NOS NPO1. The event was graced by the presence of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, Her Majesty Queen Maxima, and Her Royal Highness Princess Amalia, adding a touch of royal elegance to the festivities.

LM Flower Fashion Productions was tasked with styling the flowers for this momentous occasion. The flowers were festively arranged along the red carpet, and they also featured prominently in the music videos broadcasted during the concert. The vibrant floral displays added to the visual spectacle of the event, complementing the musical performances.

The red carpet provided a grand entrance for the King, the Queen, the Princess of Orange, the mayor, and several Dutch celebrities as they made their way into the specially constructed dome at Museumplein. The floral arrangements on the red carpet took inspiration from the colors of the Amsterdam 750th Anniversary logo, creating a harmonious and festive atmosphere.

Delphiniums featured prominently, resembling fireworks within the floral arrangements. They were artfully combined with hydrangeas and Limonium by Blooming Innovations, lisianthus by Berg Lisianthus, lilies by Vletter den Haan, and chrysanthemums by Zentoo in a variety of colors. These were interspersed with fresh asparagus greenery by van der Valk Groenesier. The arrangements were supported by Bio Oasis Floral Foam, which served as the perfect base, while Florallife spray was used to enhance the longevity and appearance of the flowers.

The guests at the "National Celebration of Amsterdam's 750th Anniversary" took the opportunity to pose with the beautifully arranged flowers for photographers and Dutch media. During the live broadcast, Dionne de Graaff, representing NOS, conducted interviews with Dutch celebrities, with the floral arrangements prominently featured on television.

Flower boat
In addition to the concert at Museumplein, a unique musical element was provided by the "Flower Boat." Well-known Dutch artists, including Bente, Roxeanne Hazes, Yves Berendse, Karsu, Kris Kross Amsterdam, Maan, Maggie Mac Neal, Willeke Alberti, Wibi Soerjadi, Eva Simons, Noortje Herlaar, and Edsilia Rombley, presented a diverse program of performances. The repertoire ranged from classical to pop, Dutch-language songs to dance music, and featured surprising duos. One artist would perform on stage in the large dome tent on Museumplein, while another performed from an iconic location within the city.

Prior to the concert, LM Flower Fashion Productions styled the aft deck of a salon boat lavishly with colorful flowers, including hydrangeas, lisianthus, lilies, chrysanthemums, limonium, and asparagus. As the boat cruised along the IJ River, Maggie Mac Neal sang her iconic Eurovision hit "Amsterdam" in a duet with Kris Kross Amsterdam and Tabitha. One of the concert's highlights was Willeke Alberti performing "Telkens Weer" (Time and Again) on the boat as it sailed through the Amsterdam canals, sharing the stage with Yves Berendse, who sang his hit "Terug in de Tijd" (Back in Time). The flowers were once again beautifully displayed on television.

The concert concluded with a lively, dancing audience, including the royal guests. The event was hosted by Holly Mae Brood and Daan Schuurmans. In addition to the royal family, Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema, other well-known Dutch figures, and many Amsterdammers who played active roles in the city's anniversary year festivities were invited to the concert, making it a truly inclusive and memorable celebration for all involved.
