Cambodia to host 5th National Orchid Forum on November 26

The Cambodian Ministry of Environment will organise the 5th National Orchid Forum on November 26 at the Motakatecho Building, Ministry of Environment Office, Phnom Penh. The official opening ceremony will be presided over by Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, and attended by ministry leaders, civil servants, representatives from the 25 provincial and capital environmental departments, other ministries and institutions, embassies, partner organisations, the private sector, national and international experts, as well as environmental enthusiasts, teachers, students, and members of the public.

The 5th National Orchid Forum will feature an exhibition of wild Kesarkol orchids, balsam, ornamental plants, and other biodiversity products. The event aims to raise awareness of Cambodia's rich plant diversity, promote proper cultivation and care techniques, and highlight the ecological, economic, and community benefits of these species.

Aligned with the environmental sector's "Chakra Strategy", which emphasises cleanliness, greenness, and sustainability, the forum aims to encourage public participation in biodiversity conservation while supporting local livelihoods and bolstering the national economy.

This year, the forum will also host a Kesarkol painting competition, inviting participants aged 18 to 35 years; A3 watercolour paintings. Deadline to participate: 20 November 2025. The competition encourages young artists to showcase their creativity while celebrating Cambodia's natural heritage.
