New detections of Western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis) were reported in imported cut flowers delivered to the Amur and Khabarovsk regions in mid-November.
Amur region
Inspections of two consignments of cut flowers from China revealed Western flower thrips in a non-viable state. The affected shipments included 5,300 stems of chrysanthemums and gypsophila. Authorities noted that non-viable thrips do not pose a phytosanitary threat.
Since the beginning of 2025, regional inspections have recorded 120 cases of thrips contamination in imported plant products, including cut flowers, raspberries, and lettuce leaves.
Khabarovsk region
A separate shipment containing over 51,200 stems of imported spray roses, chrysanthemums, and carnations was found to be contaminated with Western flower thrips.
So far this year, more than 830,000 stems of imported cut flowers have been inspected in the region, with 20 confirmed cases of thrips presence.
