On Thursday, 13 November, a delegation of forty agricultural staff members from various Dutch embassies around the world visited Wesselman Flowers/Tulpen.nl in Roelofarendsveen. During their tour, they received an in-depth introduction to the new TulipDay Foundation, which aims to use the tulip as a unifying symbol that can strengthen economic ties between cities worldwide.

Joost Wesselman guided the international group through the company's modern forcing and packing facilities. From bulb to bouquet, the visitors were shown the entire sustainable workflow through which Wesselman Flowers/Tulpen.nl propagates tulips for forcing and prepares them for market. The tour highlighted each step of the process, giving the group a clear picture of how quality is maintained from the earliest stages of bulb handling all the way to the finished bunch.
Afterwards, Paul Ras, the foundation's project manager, delivered a presentation. He explained how tulips and the creation of a tulip-picking garden can help connect communities. More than simply an iconic horticultural product, the tulip becomes a promotional tool that cities can use to strengthen their identity and stimulate local economic activity.
