“Designing together ensures materials that match your crop”

Bright Plants, based in Berkel en Rodenrijs, has been working with Amevo since last year and now uses a range of fastening materials that were developed or improved in close consultation with the supplier. On its two-hectare site, the nursery propagates Skimmia and Mandevilla, and produces standard roses in spring, amounting to 12,000 square meters of Skimmia and standard roses in various pot sizes, and 8,000 square meters of Mandevilla.

For the standard roses, Bright Plants now uses Amevo's rose clips to secure the young stems firmly to the support canes. In Mandevilla propagation, they use three-stick clips, a new design created together with Amevo. "With the new design the canes stay in place far better than before," says Donny van der Burg of Bright Plants. "That is exactly the benefit of working directly with a supplier. You can co-design and end up with materials that truly match your crop."

Bright Plants also uses JOBU clips to tie the Mandevilla shoots to the canes in three rounds. Communication with Amevo is smooth and straightforward, Donny says, mostly via WhatsApp and phone. "We used to order through an intermediary. Now we're closer to the source and have a much clearer idea of what is possible. Everything moves a lot faster this way."

The nursery is currently testing Amevo hanging pots with an integrated water reservoir for Mandevilla. "For customers that is ideal because watering becomes much easier."

This collaboration comes at a time when the market for large pot sizes is challenging due to increased supply. Smaller pot sizes, however, are performing well for Bright Plants. "Especially in times like these it is great to work with a supplier who thinks along with you and can adjust quickly," Donny concludes.
