The 28th Chrysanthemum Show Competition-cum-Sale concluded at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) with a good turnout of flower and garden enthusiasts. The event, organized by the Department of Floriculture and Landscaping and the Estate Organization, featured nearly 4,000 pots of brightly colored chrysanthemums and hosted approximately 200 entries from across the city.
During the closing ceremony, M S Bhullar, director of extension education, addressed the attendees and congratulated the winners. He emphasized the growing importance of horticulture in the region. "The pressing issues of water, weather and economic uncertainties are compelling Punjab to divert the route towards horticultural crops for a collective solution to the emerging problems and proliferation of the agrarian ecology as well as the economy," Bhullar stated.
R I S Gill, Dean, College of Horticulture and Forestry, and estate officer, echoed this sentiment, highlighting that floriculture and landscaping are making "exemplary contributions" to both rural and urban development through beautification and financial prosperity for growers.
Parminder Singh, head of the department of floriculture and landscaping, expressed immense happiness at the show's response and shared news of a development in flower research.
