In memoriam: Kurt Kramer

"It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to Kurt Kramer, the visionary pioneer of heather breeding and founder of the internationally renowned Gardengirls brand," Dr. Edgar Krieger
shares on LinkedIn. "With the first targeted crossbreeding of calluna vulgaris in 1974, he laid the foundation for his success and the wide range of innovative new varieties of heather."

"With the passing of Kurt Kramer, the world of breeders has lost a visionary who was as innovative as he was straightforward and pugnacious, and a strong advocate for the protection of intellectual property of breeders. His dedication for strong breeders´ rights and his perseverance resulted in several important court decisions, and thus clarification, in the area of plant breeders´ rights in Germany and the EU, particularly."

"It´s breeders like Kurt Kramer, that give to the world precious innovations, that deserve the best protection of their Intellectual Property, for their creations and varieties. CIOPORA fights for the rights of breeders such as Kurt Kramer for more than 60 years."
