Beacon Impatiens presents donations to charities

PanAmerican Seed continued its commitment to charitable causes this year through the Beacon Impatiens program, "Beacon Shines The Light". Each year the program highlights and supports a selection of charitable organizations. In 2025, Beacon Impatiens is spreading extra light and cheer by awarding two donation cheques: one to esp Inc. in the United States and one to Greenfingers Charity in the United Kingdom.

Since its launch in 2019, Beacon Shines The Light has supported more than ten charities across many countries, helping raise awareness around healing, comfort, and hope for people who need it most. The 2025 donation cheques were presented during two local events held for representatives and supporters of esp Inc. and Greenfingers Charity. Members of PanAmerican Seed's international teams also joined the celebrations.

"It's always a joy to see the impact our Beacon Impatiens partnerships have on these organizations," says Sarah Makiejus, Global Marketing Manager at PanAmerican Seed. "Whether it's the colourful blooms brightening a garden and lifting someone's spirits, or the teamwork involved in raising awareness and funds, the PanAmerican Seed family is ready for the challenge and always delivers."

Both of this year's chosen charities create meaningful and uplifting experiences for the communities they serve. Greenfingers Charity designs and builds gardens at children's hospices, giving comfort and connection to young patients with limited life expectancy and their families. Meanwhile, esp Inc. supports people with disabilities and their caregivers by providing opportunities for social engagement, creative activities, and personal growth.

Alongside the fundraising efforts, Beacon Impatiens plants were also donated to brighten the hospice gardens supported by Greenfingers. For esp Inc., a special T-shirt was designed and sold to help increase awareness of the charity, with extra support from Dr. Alan Armitage, Professor Emeritus at the University of Georgia, who personally recommended the organization to PanAmerican Seed.

"One of the things we try to do to make life a little better for everyone is to plant beautiful colours and beautiful things that make people smile," Dr. Armitage told Sarah Makiejus during Cultivate'25 in Columbus, Ohio. "When you're lucky enough to work with organizations that also make a difference, life becomes even better."

Impatiens walleriana Beacon is a series known for its proven resistance to Impatiens downy mildew. With its abundance of blooms, Beacon brings colourful garden displays back to shaded areas around the world. As part of a broad, long-term initiative, PanAmerican Seed has committed to supporting a charitable cause every year.

A new charity partner for the 2026 sales season will be announced soon.
