Memories become even more precious when they are made together. With that thought in mind, grower association Sweet Kisses has partnered this season with Alzheimer Fonds DWO, serving the Delft, Westland and Oostland regions.
To kick off the collaboration, chairman Gertjan Sosef of Ammerlaan-Sosef and Thijs van der Valk of OK Plant paid a visit this week to the Alzheimer Café in Naaldwijk. During their visit, they handed out Sweet Kisses primroses to caregivers and volunteers as a heartfelt thank-you for their dedication and daily commitment.
"These plants bring cheerfulness and colour during what are often dark and rainy winter months," they explained. "Especially at this time of year, people are looking for warmth and a sense of togetherness. With their wide range of vibrant colours, Sweet Kisses certainly help create that feeling."

Social impact
Gertjan Sosef, chairman of Sweet Kisses, explains: "As the Sweet Kisses collective, we believe it is important to support someone else every year. This year, we are doing that for the local Alzheimer foundation in the Westland region. With this initiative, we want to thank the caregivers and volunteers who are there for others every single day. In the coming period, we will actively support the foundation and raise funds for this important cause."
Alzheimer DWO
At the Alzheimer Café, people living with dementia, their loved ones and other involved community members come together every month. Each meeting focuses on a specific theme and includes guest experts who share their knowledge. There is plenty of room to exchange experiences, learn from one another and find mutual support.
"Our goal is a dementia-friendly society, where people with dementia and their families receive recognition, support and understanding," says Natalie Lajqi, board member of Alzheimer DWO. "Behind the forgetfulness, the same person is still there, with memories that we can continue to carry together. We find this initiative truly heartwarming, and it brings colour and warmth to our gatherings."

Plentiful assortment available
The primroses are currently widely available from several Sweet Kisses propagators. With a guaranteed flowering period of at least 30 days, the plants offer long-lasting enjoyment, and especially during these dark winter months, everyone can use a little extra warmth and colour. That idea perfectly reflects the aim of this collaboration: bringing colour to everyday life, together with people living with dementia and those around them.
