India: MoU signed for implementation of Special Floriculture Project

As part of its ongoing community development initiatives, Aditya Aluminium, Lapanga signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Horticulture, Government of Odisha, for the implementation of a Special Floriculture Project.

The MoU was formally signed by Mr. Jagannath Prasad Nayak, Unit Head, Aditya Aluminium, Lapanga, and Mr. Prasanna Kumar Pattra, Project Director, DRDA, Sambalpur, in the presence of officials from the Department of Horticulture, including Ms. Priyanka Priyadarshini, Assistant Director of Horticulture (ADH). Senior representatives from Aditya Aluminium, Lapanga were also present on the occasion, including Mr. Vinod Nand Thakur, Head – HR; Mr. Ravi Niwash, Head – CSR; and Mr. Manoranjan Behera, Deputy Manager – CSR.

The project focuses on Gerbera cultivation as an integrated floriculture initiative, tapping into the rapidly expanding market for high-quality cut flowers. Leveraging Sambalpur's favourable climate and soil conditions, the initiative aims to promote protected floriculture through modern technologies such as polyhouse cultivation, drip irrigation, and fertigation systems to ensure higher productivity and consistent quality.

With rising demand from weddings, events, and urban retail markets, Gerbera cultivation offers farmers a profitable, year-round income opportunity. The project is envisioned as a scalable, high-tech floriculture model in Jujumura Gram Panchayat, aimed at strengthening women's participation, enhancing technical skills, and promoting sustainable agricultural entrepreneurship.
