Nepal: Floriculture to benefit from new loan system

Global IME Bank and the Floriculture Association of Nepal have signed a memorandum of understanding on the use of greenhouse technology in floriculture and ornamental crop production and the development of an easy loan system. Mr. Ashim Karmacharya, Head of Infrastructure & Project Finance of the Bank and Mr. Rajesh Bhakta Shrestha, President of Floriculture Association Nepal, signed the MoU.

As per the agreement, the bank will provide special greenhouse loans targeting floriculture entrepreneurs and farmers. Also, the Floriculture Association Nepal will provide information to its members about the Bank's Agricultural Credit Scheme.

It will help in increasing floriculture and productivity of entrepreneurs and farmers, promotion of greenhouse technologies, development of quality infrastructure and enhancement of services. The collaboration is expected to motivate floriculture entrepreneurs and farmers to adopt climate-resilient practices, sustainable business practices and modern technology.

The partnership between the bank and the Association of Nepal is believed to facilitate the expansion of financial access to floriculture entrepreneurs and to invest in greenhouse technology and increase the production and productivity of floriculture and ornamental plants.
