UK: Orchid day to return to South Cumbria with rare plants

An orchid day is set to return to South Cumbria this weekend with expert talks, rare plant displays, and hands-on care clinics. Beetham Nurseries will host Orchid Day 2026 on Saturday, January 10, featuring a packed programme aimed at plant lovers and collectors. Chelsea Gold Medal winners Burnham Nurseries, based in South Devon and specialists in orchids for more than 70 years, will return with a wide selection of rare and unusual specimens.

A spokesperson for Beetham Nurseries said: "Orchid Day 2026 promises a full day of expert advice, rare plants, and relaxed garden centre shopping.

"Burnham Nurseries will be bringing their extensive expertise along with a large selection of rare and unusual orchids, available to view and purchase throughout the day. Visitors will have the chance to speak directly with the team, ask questions, and discover unique specimens rarely found elsewhere."

The spokesperson said: "The talk will introduce the fascinating world of orchids and cover essential care advice, including watering, feeding, repotting, and dealing with common pests and problems."
