A month-long colorful flower festival was inaugurated on Friday at the green and water-filled Faujdarhat DC Park in the port city. Organized by the district administration for the fourth time, the festival will feature millions of flowers from around 140 species of domestic and foreign varieties. Visitors on the first day of the festival were delighted by the display of flowers at the DC Park near the Faujdarhat area on Friday.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah presided over the inaugural function, with Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Ehsanul Haque attending as the Chief Guest. Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Ziauddin, Chattogram Police Commissioner Hasib Aziz, DIG Ahsan Habib Palash, and Police Superintendent Mohammad Nazir Ahmed Khan were also present as special guests.
This year, like in previous years, a variety of flowers are being displayed at the festival. Organizers have arranged a procession featuring over 140 species of local and foreign flowers throughout the month-long event.
The festival will take place from January 9 to February 8, with operating hours from 10 am to 8 pm daily. Cultural programmes will be held from 4 pm to 8 pm on the fairgrounds.
