Jeroen Oudheusden appointed as director of Sustainability Expertise at the Floridata Foundation

Stichting Floridata has appointed Jeroen Oudheusden as a board member with responsibility for Sustainability Expertise, effective 1 January 2026. With extensive experience in sustainability and supply chain transparency, he brings additional expertise to the foundation within its established governance framework.

Background and career
After studying Marketing and Business Economics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Oudheusden began his career at Bloemenveiling Aalsmeer, later Royal FloraHolland. He held various commercial roles in trade development and e-business and spent two years working in Japan for the auction organisation.

Following eighteen years at FloraHolland, Oudheusden became involved in the establishment of the Floriculture Sustainability Initiative (FSI) in 2013, where he continues to serve as Executive Officer. Together with Bert Buis, founder of Stichting Floridata, he helped develop the Sustainability Sourcing Scan (SSS). This initiative was co-funded through the Association of Wholesalers in Floricultural Products and the former Product Board for Horticulture, and through FSI the certificates register was placed with Floricode.

In this additional role at Floridata, Oudheusden aims to further strengthen data-driven collaboration within the ornamental horticulture sector, using validated data as a foundation for continuous improvement. This approach supports greater transparency, a level playing field and trust across the supply chain, and aligns with the joint efforts within FSI to work with robust methodologies and established sector standards.

Governance and independence
Fellow board members Eric van Tol and Monique Nijholt, who have been involved with Floridata since its inception and are fully independent of the ornamental horticulture sector, welcome the appointment, which adds both sector knowledge and sustainability expertise to the board. The Supervisory Board, board members and management actively monitor compliance with agreed principles and aim for transparent and independent decision-making.

Floridata's governance structure safeguards the independent position of its board members. It now explicitly stipulates that the new board member will refrain from entering into contractual obligations that directly relate to FSI, in order to prevent any potential conflicts of interest.
