UK: Spalding Flower Parade 2026 canceled

The 2026 Spalding Flower Parade has been cancelled, its organising committee has said. It blamed financial pressures and illness among the team who plan the annual event. Efforts will be focused on ensuring the parade's return on 8 and 9 May 2027, the committee said.

Toni Preston, secretary and co-director of the committee, added: "It was a very hard decision to make. We've taken the decision to regroup and focus now on the next 16 months, [and] on our fundraising."

The annual parade began in 1959 to celebrate the area's flower growing, but ended in 2013. It was revived in 2023. Preston said illness among the committee meant the group had to "put a pause on fundraising".

She said the committee had a large fundraising event planned for August - and that there was "no reason why [the parade] shouldn't go ahead in 2027. We have got money in the bank, obviously it's not enough, but we're now going to apply to other funds for funding."
