New F2F network launched for independent florists

The floral industry is undergoing a shift that many independent florists say is long overdue. For years, shop owners have looked for ways to grow beyond their local markets, but traditional wire services and their layered fees have often made out-of-town orders unprofitable. Against that background, Hana Florist POS has introduced Hana Florist to Florist (F2F), a new order transfer network aimed at changing how florists work with one another.

Hana F2F is positioned as a transparent alternative to conventional wire services. The model is straightforward: florists pay a fee only when they send an order, not when they receive one. According to the company, this approach is intended to address an industry culture where deductions, percentages, and recurring charges are often difficult to track and predict. The network is currently active across the United States and Canada.

Traditional wire services typically require annual memberships, monthly technology fees, and a percentage of every fulfilled order. Many florists say that once flowers, labour, and delivery are accounted for, margins are minimal. Hana F2F operates differently. Receiving orders through the network is free, with florists retaining the full order value. Sending an order to another shop carries a flat fee of $2.99, with no annual charges or minimum usage requirements.

Early users report that this structure has had a tangible impact on their businesses. Sarah Jenkins, owner of Petals & Blooms in Chicago, said the simplicity was what stood out to her. "What really got me was how straightforward the whole thing is. With other services, I felt like I needed an accounting degree just to understand my monthly statement. With Hana F2F, I know exactly what I'm paying. During this past Mother's Day, I was able to send dozens of orders to florists I've known for years. They got the full value, I paid a tiny fee, and the customers were happy. It's the first time in a long time I haven't felt 'taxed' just for being in business."

Technology is another part of the offering. Membership in the F2F network includes access to a free basic version of Hana Florist POS, a point-of-sale and shop management system. Mark Thompson of The Green Thumb in Toronto said the software helped modernize his shop's operations. "The free POS system that comes with the F2F membership has honestly been a lifesaver. We used to do everything on paper tickets and sticky notes. Now, we track everything in one place. It didn't cost us a cent to get started, and it's actually made our shop run smoother. We aren't just saving money on fees; we're saving time, which is just as important."

According to Hana Florist POS, the F2F network now connects more than 1,000 independent florists across North America. Rather than automatically assigning orders, the system allows florists to choose their own partner shops based on quality and reliability. This flexibility is designed to support both peak periods, such as major holidays and everyday orders that need to be fulfilled outside a shop's immediate area.

The integrated POS system is intended to support daily operations by centralizing order management, printing designer and delivery tickets, and providing real-time order tracking. The software also includes basic reporting tools and an interface designed to be easy to use, particularly for shops without dedicated IT resources. Orders sent through the F2F network can be managed within the same system, eliminating the need to switch between platforms.

For many independent florists, the appeal of Hana F2F lies in its emphasis on transparency and choice. By keeping the full value of received orders, shops can focus on product quality without factoring in percentage-based deductions. The flat sending fee is intended to make it more affordable to serve customers who want to send flowers to other regions.

Relationships also play a role. Unlike large wire services that rely on automated systems, Hana F2F allows florists to build ongoing partnerships with shops they trust. Supporters of the model say this can lead to more consistent quality, fewer issues, and stronger professional connections within the industry.

As one executive at Hana Florist POS explained, "In an industry where every dollar counts, we wanted to build something that actually helps florists grow instead of just taking a cut. Hana F2F is about building a community. When you combine the free POS with the network, you've got everything you need to compete with the big guys without the heavy fees."

Hana F2F is currently open to florists throughout the United States and Canada. The company says there are no upfront costs or long-term commitments, allowing shops to test the system and use the network as their needs require.
