New cut flower food sachets with 35% post-consumer recycled plastic

Vaselife International has introduced a new generation of packaging for its cut flower food sachets, made from mono-material polyethylene (mono-PE) film containing 35% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic.

The sachets are designed to improve recyclability by using a single plastic type and to reduce the use of virgin, fossil-based plastic. The PCR material is sourced from post-consumer recycling streams, supporting a more circular approach to packaging without affecting product performance or shelf life.

With a recycled content of more than 30%, the new packaging meets current and upcoming regulatory requirements, including UK and European recycled-content thresholds.

According to the company, this is the first time mono-PE sachets with integrated PCR content have been introduced in the cut flower food market.

"Vaselife develops flower care products for the entire flower supply chain, from grower to consumer. The company focuses on sustainability and continues to invest in technologies that improve the environmental performance of both its products and packaging," says Nick MacDonald, Managing Director at Vaselife International.
