From 13 to 16 January 2026, United Selections welcomed growers, partners, and industry colleagues to its annual United Selections Open Days in Nakuru, bringing together innovation in rose breeding, international collaboration, and a special milestone celebration for partner breeder Könst Alstroemeria.
Throughout the week, clients visited the showhouses to explore the latest developments in standard roses, spray roses from the Blossoms series, chrysanthemums from partner breeder Icon Selections, and the alstroemeria assortment of Könst. With extended opening throughout the week, visitors had the opportunity to take time for detailed evaluations, selections, and in-depth discussions with the United Selections team.
Alongside proven commercial varieties such as Madam Red and Jumilia, the focus was firmly on the future. New genetics were presented across all categories, reflecting ongoing investments in quality, productivity, disease resistance, and market relevance.

Several rose varieties attracted particularly strong interest from growers, including the new red variety under code US 1286B, the bi-color US 1653A, and spray rose US 6055B. From the chrysanthemum collection, established varieties such as Superstar and Quinn continued to perform strongly, while the new variety Nordic generated notable attention. A growing interest in santini types for bouquet production was also clearly visible.
From the Könst Alstroemeria assortment, varieties Debby and Bianca stood out for their quality and commercial potential.
Beyond the commercial evaluations, the open days also highlighted the importance of inspiration and knowledge exchange within the industry.

Lucas J. Jansen of Flower Academy commented: "What stands out here in Nakuru is not only the strength of the genetics, but the openness of the dialogue with growers. You see varieties being discussed from both a technical and market perspective, which is exactly what the industry needs to keep developing in a healthy way."
Floral designer and creative consultant Alina Neacsa, who joined the week from Romania, added: "Being here at the breeding source gives a completely different understanding of flowers. You feel the story behind each variety – the people, the climate, the choices made. That connection is essential when we later translate flowers into emotion and design at consumer level."
