Flower Farmers in Bahong in the Philippines are now busy preparing their flower produce for the upcoming Valentine's Day celebration. Bahong is known as the Rose Capital of the Philippines, with roses considered the most in-demand flower during the Valentine's season.
Local farmers are expecting an increase in both production and sales as demand rises during this peak period where people from all walks of life gift their loved ones with flowers as a symbol of their love and care for them.
Most of the roses and other types of flowers grown in Bahong are being prepared for shipment to Manila to meet the high market demand, particularly from florists and retailers. Farmers are taking extra measures to ensure the freshness and quality of the flowers during transport.
According to Erwin Diaz, who has been in the flower industry for 20 years, proper handling is essential since the flowers will be transported over long distances. Farmers are expected to be busiest on February 11, 12, and 13 as they focus on packing and preparing the flowers to ensure they are ready in time for Valentine's Day.
