With Valentine's Day falling on a Saturday this year, flower deliveries are being spread out over more days than usual. Jennifer Schweidel and her team at Blooms of Dunwoody are in crunch time, preparing floral arrangements scheduled to go out later this week.
"Logistically, it's a lot of work, but it's so worth it," Schweidel said. Schweidel said many customers prefer having flowers delivered to the workplace, where the gesture is shared with coworkers.
"They want that social moment where they feel the love," she said. "Everybody sees that they're in a relationship and that someone cared enough to remember the holiday." However, Schweidel said many customers wait until the last minute to place their orders.
"By Thursday or Friday, they're really coming in here sweating bullets," she said. Ordering early is key. Schweidel said she typically stops taking Valentine's Day orders two days before the holiday, leaving late shoppers to choose from whatever arrangements remain in the store.
